Voters who are on the Township of Laurentian Valley Voters' List will receive a Voter Information Letter in the mail containing a unique PIN and instructions on how to cast their vote. 

The Council of the Township of Laurentian Valley has approved the use of Internet voting and Telephone voting as an alternative voting method for the 2022 Municipal and School Board Election.  The Township of Laurentian Valley has contracted Voatz Canada Ltd. for their telephone and online election platforms that stresses security and accessibility for all residents of the Township.  

Internet and Telephone voting will be available during the advanced voting period of the election (10:00 a.m. on October 14, 2022, to 8:00 p.m. on October 24, 2022), and traditional paper ballots will be used on Voting Day (October 24, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.) at the Township office located at 460 Witt Road, Pembroke. 

Electors will be able to access the internet voting system through a browser on their personal computer or an application on their phone. Electors will be able to access the telephone voting system from their home phone or cell phone.

The Township of Laurentian Valley Municipal Office located at 460 Witt Road, Pembroke, will have a digital voting station available with a dedicated iPad and secure internet connection as well as a telephone available during the Advanced Voting Period.   

Traditional paper ballots and vote tabulators will be used during the voting period for the general public on Voting Day, October 24, 2022.

The Township of Laurentian Valley will have a digital voting station set up with a secure internet connection and a telephone available for those wishing to cast their vote electronically or by telephone.  Trained Election Officials will be on site to provide assistance where required.  If on voting day you plan to visit the Voter Help and Revision Centre to cast your vote, bring your voter information letter containing your unique PIN and one piece of ID that has your name and address on it.  Any identification listed on the Province of Ontario's acceptable document list for voter identification will be accepted.  Staff will check if you are eligible to vote before directing you to the voting area where you will go behind a voting screen to mark your ballot and your vote will be cast by the insertion of your marked ballot into a tabulator.

If you require personal assistance to vote, you may ask a friend to assist you.  Your friend must swear a declaration prior to offering assistance.  The person acting as a friend may go behind the voting screen with you.  A person may act as a friend only once, except for family members. 

Pursuant to the Township of Laurentian Valley's Accessible Customer Service Policy, individuals requiring service animals are permitted to be accompanied by a service animal at the Voting Place and Help and Revision Centre. 

If you require the assistance of an interpreter, you may ask anyone who is not a candidate or scrutineer to act as your interpreter.  The interpreter must swear a declaration before providing assistance. 

Who can vote?

A person is entitled to vote in the Township of Laurentian Valley municipal election if he or she on voting day:

• Resides in the Township of Laurentian Valley, or is the owner or tenant of land in the Township of Laurentian Valley, or the spouse of such owner or tenant; and
• Is a Canadian citizen, and
• Is at least 18 years old, and
• Is not prohibited from voting under the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 or otherwise prohibited by law.

All voters will be required to present a prescribed proof of identity and residence in order to receive a ballot at their voting location. Voters who cannot present an acceptable proof of identity and residence will have to make a statutory declaration.

You may only vote once in the Township of Laurentian Valley Municipal and School Board Election regardless of how many properties you own or rent within the municipality. You may also vote in multiple Municipal Elections if you own property outside of The Township of Laurentian Valley.

You cannot vote if you are:

• serving a sentence of imprisonment in a penal or correctional institution;
• a corporation;
• acting as executor or trustee or in another representative capacity; or
• convicted of a corrupt practice described in section 90(3) of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996.

Register to vote

Check, update or add your information to the Municipal Voters' List. If you are a resident, owner, or tenant of property in the Township of Laurentian Valley, a Canadian citizen, and at least 18 years of age, you can vote in the 2022 Township of Laurentian Valley Municipal Election.  

Up until August 31, 2022, You are able to find out if you're on the list to vote for the 2022 Municipal and School Board Election by visiting the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation's (MPAC) https://www.voterlookup.ca/home.aspx. MPAC is responsible for identifying all potential municipal and school board electors.   

After August 31, 2022, any changes to your information on the list requires you to submit an Application to Amend the Voters' List with the Township of Laurentian Valley.  Remember, your information needs to be updated if you have changed your name, or moved since the 2018 municipal election.  You'll also need to add your information if you're a new voter.  Completed Application to Amend the Voters' List form may be filed with a copy of a government photo ID by mail or in person at the Municipal Office or by email at election@lvtownship.ca

4. If you are running for Council, complete your Endorsement of Nomination- Form 2

  • Once nomination papers are filed with the clerk, the candidate can start raising and spending money on their campaign (within their preliminary spending limits provided at the time the candidate files their nomination)

  • First day that a third party advertiser can file their notice of registration. A third-party advertiser cannot raise or spend money on their campaign, nor begin advertising, until their registration is certified by the clerk. This policy is intended to address candidate advertising and election materials in the Township of Laurentian Valley. This policy is intended as a formalization of the municipal elections legislation, as well as clarification of specific municipal procedures.

2022 Municipal Election Candidate Financial Statements

The Municipal Elections Act, 1996, as amended, Section 88.25 requires all candidates to file financial statements outlining their campaign revenues and expenses following each Municipal Election with the Clerk with whom the nomination was filed on or before 2 p.m., March 31, 2023.

In accordance with the Section 88.23 (4) of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, as amended, (MEA) the Clerk shall present a report setting out all candidates in an election and indicating whether each candidate complied with Section 88.25 of the MEA.

The following is a compliance report pursuant to Section 88.23(4) and (5) of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, as amended.
